Head of Marada Movement Suleiman Frangieh met on Tuesday with Maronite Patriarch Bechara Al-Rai, discussing with him the latest developments, especially the presidential elections.
After the meeting, Frangiyeh told the reporters that settlements have started in the region, rivals will reconcile, the game has changed, and this matter will reflect on Lebanon.
Frangiyeh added that he visited France which is holding consultations with Saudi to answer a number of questions about backing reform policies, noting that he would support any reformist government.
Frangiyeh indicated that he would benefit from his good relations with Syria and Hezbollah for the sake of securing the national interests.
Frangieh also noted that “the issue of Syrian refugees will be among the priorities of any upcoming presidential tenure,” vowing to employ his good “personal relation” with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to “serve the country’s interest.”
Regarding the US and Saudi veto over his candidacy, Frangiyeh noted that what we’re seeing in the media is baseless and distorted.
