Four members of Iran’s elite military force the IRGC (Islamic Revolution Guards Corps) were martyred in a terrorist attack on the country’s southeast on Monday.
IRGC Ground Force’s Southeast Quds Base said in a statement that the four servicemen were martyred in an area bordering Pakistan in Saravan county in the province of Sistan and Balouchestan.
The four martyrs have been identified as Mohammad Gudarzi, an IRGC second lieutenant, according to the statement.
The three other martyrs were Basij forces serving in a security plan in the region, the IRGC said in the statement naming them as Rahim Bakhsh Parki, Hamidreza Abedi and Mahmoud Nikkhahzadeh.
According to the statement, the terrorists have been forced to flee into Pakistan after the IRGC’s heavy fire.
Saravan is only 40 kilometers away from the common border with Pakistan.
The IRGC is tasked with protecting the country’s northwestern and southeastern borders.
