US President Joe Biden reacted negatively on Monday when asked if it is necessary to add Russia to the US list of state sponsors of terrorism.
“No,” Biden told reporters from the White House pool after returning to Washington when he was asked a relevant question.
This comes at a time when Ukraine, with the help of US lawmakers, is forming pressure groups in Congress in order to obtain this designation.
Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry warned that if Washington declared Russia a “sponsor of terrorism”, this could lead to the severing of diplomatic relations with the United States.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that “this step could lead to the severing of diplomatic relations,” and that “Moscow is ready for any development in the US position.”
Zakharova stressed that “the United States cannot abuse the regimes that the Americans accuse of terrorism.”
