Suffering from governmental void for around 13 months, Lebanon stands on the verge of a decisive stage pertaining the cabinet formation.
The recent initiative of the General Security Director Abbas Ibrahim has managed to remove three hindrances preventing the cabinet formation, according to Al-Manar reporter who added that one more obstacle is still blocking the breakthrough.
Well-informed sources told the reporter that the talks are positive, but that if General Ibrahim’s initiative fails, the governmental mission of the premier-designate Najib Mikati will end.
On July 26, Mikati was nominated by 73 members of the parliament to form the new government during the binding parliamentary consultations held by President Michel Aoun at Baabda Palace.
