Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri received in Ain el-Tineh this Wednesday the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Sameh Shoukry, and an accompanying delegation, with talks touching on the general situation and featuring high on government affairs.
During the meeting, Speaker Berri thanked Egypt’s assistance to Lebanon, especially in the wake of the port explosion, and maid the coronavirus crisis, praising its endeavor to save Lebanon from its present impasse.
After the meeting, Minister Shoukry said: “I was honored to meet Speaker Nabih Berri and have relayed to him the greetings of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. I have also conveyed a message of solidarity from Egypt towards Lebanon at this delicate time, and the concern that we have in Egypt and at the regional and international level over the continuation of the political crisis and the importance of working diligently and quickly to form a government of specialists to get out of this crisis.”
“I also relayed Egypt’s great appreciation for the efforts of his Excellency and the initiatives that he launches in an attempt to get out of this crisis within the framework of preserving the solid political and legal ground represented in the implementation of the Lebanese Constitution and the Taif Agreement. Egypt is willing to do everything in its power to help its brothers overcome this crisis and move to a stage where Lebanon can regain its full health,” he said.
