Venezuela’s National Assembly (parliament) addressed the government, demanding to declare the EU envoy in the republic Isabel Brilhante Pedrosa persona non grata in response to EU sanctions against Caracas.
“I raise both hands in favor of declaring the EU representative persona non grata, and in favor of reviewing the terms of the EU’s presence in Venezuela,” National Assembly chairman Jorge Rodriguez said, according to the EFE news agency.
Earlier on Monday, the EU extended sanctions against Venezuelan officials, adding 18 more people to the sanctions list, including National electoral council Chairman and Deputy Chairman, head of the Armed Forces’ Strategic Operational Command, lawmakers and judges. The sanctions list currently includes 55 persons.
