Lebanese caretaker Health Minister Hamad Hasan announced on Monday that the coronavirus vaccine would be available in Lebanon as of the first quarter of the year 2021.
Hasan indicated that Lebanon had signed two agreements with COVAX facility and Pfizer company to cover around two million infections in the country, noting that such a step is considered an achievement.
In remarks to NBN local channel, the minister stressed importance of citizens’ commitment to coronavirus measures especially the full lockdown which Lebanon has been witnessing since Saturday (November 14).
In this context he noted that the aim of the full lockdown was to raise the readiness of the hospitals across the country in the battle against coronavirus which now coincides with another battle against flu.
Lebanon registered on Sunday 11 coronavirus-related fatalities raising the nationwide death toll to 817. Meanwhile, the number of total infections since the pandemic started in Lebanon last February rose by 1,163 to 105,430.
