Lebanon’s President Michel Aoun designated on Thursday the ex-PM Saad al-Hariri to form the new cabinet after the latter gained 112 votes in the binding parliamentary consultations.
It is worth noting that Loyalty to Resistance and al-Baath parliamentary blocs abstained from nominating Hariri for premiership.
Later on, PM Saad-designate Hariri moved to Baabda palace to meet with President Aoun in the presence of Speaker Nabih Berri who had already led his parliamentary bloc to nominate Hariri.
The Prime minister-designate is scheduled to start parliamentary consultations in order to form the new cabinet.
Hariri stated that he aims to form a national unity government which will be mainly concerned with holding the parliamentary elections in 2017.
