Lebanese Army on Saturday dismissed as fabricated an Israeli report claiming that Hezbollah has “planted an agent” in the military institution.
“The army command stresses its sovereign decision in all issues related to the military institution, which is the only side, according to its military units’ missions, that has the right to define the task of its officers and members, as well as the area of their mission,” read a Lebanese Army communiqué issued on Saturday.
The statement said that the Lebanese Army is cooperating with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon, known as UNIFIL, in implementing the 1701 resolution.
The Lebanese Army stressed meanwhile, that the circulated news concerning one of the Lebanese officers in south Lebanon is fabricated, noting that the army command will “tackle and respond to this report within legal framework.”
Earlier on Friday, Israeli media outlet, Ynet, claimed that Lebanese resistance movement, Hezbollah, has planted an agent in the Lebanese armed forces.
