Iranian Intelligence Minister Esmaeil Khatib said more than 50 foreign intelligence services provided backing for the Israeli regime in its June attack on Iran.
In comments at a meeting in the southwestern city of Shahrekord on Wednesday, Khatib said the unity, support, and solidarity of the Iranian people, along with the power of the armed and security forces, led to the victory of the Iranian nation over the Zionist regime and the United States in the war of aggression in June despite all the efforts of the “intelligence NATO” and all the resources used by more than 50 intelligence services that designed and employed them in the attack and imposed a silent and soft war on Iran.
The intelligence minister added that the enemy, during the 12-day war, had a plan for overthrow and disintegration through an all-out hybrid war and employed military attacks using the latest global technologies and knowledge it had acquired from Western civilization.
The minister also stated that the enemy had designed widespread destabilization in the country and sought to deploy terrorists and Takfiri elements from Syria and Afghanistan into Iran.
On June 13, the Zionist regime launched an unprovoked war of aggression against Iran, targeting military, nuclear, and residential areas for 12 consecutive days. The United States later escalated the conflict by striking three of Iran’s nuclear sites in Natanz, Fordow, and Isfahan on June 22.
Iran’s Armed Forces delivered an immediate and forceful response. The IRGC Aerospace Force carried out 22 waves of retaliatory missile strikes under Operation True Promise III, inflicting significant damage and heavy losses on cities across the occupied territories.
In retaliation for the US attacks, Iranian forces also targeted al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar —the largest American military installation in West Asia— with a barrage of missiles.
The confrontation came to an end on June 24, when a ceasefire was enforced.
