The occupation military escalation unfolded just hours after President Trump welcomed Hamas’s response to his ceasefire proposal, framing it as a positive step toward “lasting peace.” On the ground, however, the reality for Gazans was one of continued aggression. Israeli aircraft and artillery reportedly pursued and directly targeted humanitarian service providers in Gaza City, while also firing upon displaced families after ordering them to evacuate.

The assault was widespread and deadly. In the east of Gaza City, an Israeli airstrike on a house in the Al-Tuffah neighborhood killed four people. Further south, in the Al-Sabra neighborhood, a separate airstrike killed two Palestinians and wounded others.

The Israeli aggression extended to central and southern Gaza, where Israeli artillery shelled the Al-Bureij refugee camp and the center of Khan Yunis. A girl was wounded by Israeli gunfire near Hamad Residential City.

In a particularly stark incident, two children were martyred and eight others were wounded when an Israeli drone struck a tent for displaced persons in the Al-Mawasi area, northwest of Khan Yunis.

This sharp Israeli aggression stands in direct contradiction to reports from the Israeli Broadcasting Authority, which had indicated that political directives were issued for the army to limit itself to “defensive operations” in Gaza.
