Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi strongly rejected on Sunday any attempt by the UK, Germany and France to rei-mpose sanctions that were lifted under the 2015 nuclear deal, saying they have no legal, political, or moral right to do so.
In a statement posted on X social media platform, the top Iranian diplomat warned the European troika against restoring the sanctions, known as the “snapback” mechanism of the 2015 nuclear deal (Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action – JCPOA) which the US pulled out during US President Donald Trump’s first term.
“It is not just that the E3 has no legal, political, or moral entitlement to invoke ‘snapback,’ and that even if they did, ‘use or lose it’ doesn’t work,” Araghchi posted on X.
It is not just that the E3 has no legal, political, or moral entitlement to invoke “snapback”, and that even if they did, “use or lose it” doesn’t work.
It’s that the correct expression for the E3’s dilemma is “use it *and* lose it”. Or better yet, “use it and lose it *all*”.

“It is not just that the E3 has no legal, political, or moral entitlement to invoke ‘snapback,’ and that even if they did, ‘use or lose it’ doesn’t work.”
remarks come amid growing tensions over the future of the JCPOA, as Western parties have continued to level accusations against Iran while failing to fulfill their own commitments under the 2015 nuclear agreement.
The Iranian officials have stressed that Tehran will not remain indifferent to any unlawful or provocative measures, warning that European states would be the ones to bear the costs of undermining diplomacy.
“G7 Statement Irresponsible, Aimed at Misleading Attention from Gaza”
Meanwhile on Sunday, Iranian Foreign Ministry condemned the “baseless and irresponsible” allegations raised against Tehran in a statement issued by the members of the G7 Rapid Response Mechanism (RRM) and its associate members.
In a statement, the Iranian Foreign Ministry denounced the G7 accusations as unfounded and a sheer attempt at deflection, stressing that levelling false charges against those responsible for safeguarding Iran’s national security amounts to a blatant distortion of facts.

It described the G7’s approach as a hypocritical effort by the very actors whose illegal and destabilizing conduct across different regions, particularly in West Asia, has promoted lawlessness and exacerbated insecurity.
The statement underlined that the United States and other G7 members must be held accountable for their destructive role in jeopardizing regional and global stability, especially for their complicity in the Israeli regime’s gross violations of international law, including international humanitarian law and human rights in Palestine, as well as their backing of notorious terrorist groups.
