The Lebanese President Jospeh Aoun made a phone call to the Commander of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), General Diodato Abagnara, to check on the safety of peacekeepers after they were targeted by an Israeli drone while removing roadblocks near the southern town of Marwahin, which hindered access to UNIFIL positions along the border.
President Aoun expressed Lebanon’s strong condemnation of what he described as the most serious attack on UNIFIL since the ceasefire agreement last November. This incident comes less than a week after the UN Security Council extended UNIFIL’s mandate until the end of 2027.
He stressed that such attacks confirm Israel’s continued defiance of international will, particularly recent calls to end hostilities against Lebanon, withdraw Israeli forces from occupied Lebanese territory in the south, release Lebanese detainees, and fully implement Resolution 1701.

Minister of Labor, Mohammad Haidar, wrote: “The government is scheduled to hold a session tomorrow, Friday, focusing on the issue of exclusive control of weapons. However, in stark contrast, Israeli forces launched deadly raids this evening, targeting civilians and sending a terrifying message of disregard for Lebanese political decisions and international mediation.
This escalation raises urgent questions about the viability of ongoing discussions on disarmament given the continued risk of such attacks. Many are now calling for unified national action to confront and resist this aggression.”

The Lebanese health ministry reported 4 martyrs and 16 injuries in the Israeli aggression on various towns in South Lebanon. Nevertheless, the Lebanese government insists on convening and discussing a decision to disarm the resistance.
