According to the arrangements made by Oman and an agreement between Iran and the US, the expert-level meetings that started on Saturday morning will precede indirect talks between Araqchi and the US president’s special envoy Steve Witkoff.
Araqchi had a meeting with his Omani counterpart prior to the expert-level talks in Muscat. Omani Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi acts as an intermediary between Iran and the US, like the previous rounds of talks.
Iran and the US held two rounds of talks in Oman and Italy on April 12 and 19 with the purpose of reaching a deal on Iran’s nuclear program and the removal of sanctions on Tehran.
