During a phone call held Thursday afternoon, President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, and Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, emphasized the “strength of the fraternal Lebanese-Iraqi relations, which have remained solid and deeply-rooted over the years, based on mutual respect for the sovereignty of both countries.”
President Aoun and the Iraqi Prime Minister affirmed their “mutual desire to strengthen and develop these ties across all areas, away from anything that could undermine their depth.”
In Baghdad, the Iraqi prime minister received MP Qabalan Qabalan who handed him a letter from the Lebanese House Speaker Nabih Berri in presence of the Lebanese ambassador to Iraq Ali Habhab.
MP Qabalan hailed the Iraqi support to Lebanon, especially during and after the recent war. In turn, Al-Sudani reiterated commitment to the support of Lebanon’s sovereignty, integrity and reconstruction project, underling the role of Speaker Berri.
