In a blatant breach of the ceasefire agreement, an Israeli drone strike killed a civilian in southern Lebanon early on Thursday.
The attack occurred in the town of Ma’roub, when an Israeli drone fired a missile at a car, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Health. The ministry confirmed that one person was martyred in the strike, which targeted a vehicle in the Tyre district of south Lebanon.
This latest incident marks another grave violation of the ceasefire agreement, despite Lebanon’s full commitment to the agreement’s terms. Just days earlier, on Monday, another Israeli drone strike had hit a car in the southern Lebanese town of Qaaqaait al-Jisr.

Israeli occupation forces launched a series of airstrikes and shelled several towns in the region on March 22. These attacks resulted in the deaths and injuries of several civilians in southern Lebanon, while also targeting eastern Lebanon. Prior to these escalations, blatant Israeli violations had been ongoing, namely targeted and sporadic strikes that undermined Lebanese sovereignty. These violations included repeated incursions into Lebanese airspace and the occupation of points along the Lebanon-Palestine border.
Israeli occupation authorities claimed the latest bombing campaign was in response to the launching of five rockets toward the Metulla settlement on the border. However, the Lebanese army discovered and seized primitive rocket launchers in the area, while Hezbollah denied responsibility for the attack.
A ceasefire agreement was originally reached on November 27, 2024, following a brutal Israeli assault on Lebanon. The deal guaranteed a full Israeli withdrawal by late January 2025, later extended to mid-February, but Israeli forces continue to occupy border regions and launch attacks on civilians and the Lebanese military.
