The Iranian foreign minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, has called for an emergency meeting of the Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC) following the desecration of the Holy Quran in Sweden.
This was the second such act in less than a month, prompting Amir-Abdollahian to propose an urgent ministerial meeting of the OIC to discuss the issue.
Ibrahim Taha, the OIC secretary general, condemned the act and offered to put a ministerial OIC meeting on the agenda following consultations with member states.
In the meantime, Amir-Abdollahian announced that Iran will not accept a new Swedish ambassador and called for a serious and effective action to deal with the culprit. The Iraqi government also ordered the Swedish ambassador to leave after an Iraqi refugee desecrated the holy book.
