The Israeli National Security Minister, Itamar Ben Gvir, was reportedly kept in the dark by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant over plans for strikes that killed three senior Islamic Jihad commanders in Gaza early on Tuesday.
According to the Ynet news website, both officials were worried that Ben Gvir would undermine the surprise element of the operation if he hinted at it.
Ben Gvir has been clamoring for a harsher Israeli response to the last rocket launch from Gaza and complaining about being left out of decision-making meetings, the Israeli media outlet added.
“Netanyahu is seen as distrusting his police minister, keeping him out of critical decision-making on security matters,” The Times of Israel reported.
The three Islamic Jihad commanders were among 13 Palestinians martyred by the Israeli offensive. The martyrs included four children and four women. 20 others were wounded in the aggression that targeted several location across the coastal enclave.
