The Syrian Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Dr. Faisal Mikdad, welcomed his Omani counterpart Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, stressing that the relations with the sisterly Sultanate of Oman have never been severed.
“The Sultanate has stood by Syria in its war against terrorism,”Mikdad said.
The Foreign Minister of the Sultanate of Oman had arrived at Damascus International Airport on Monday morning.
Al Busaidi, for his part, affirmed that “Syria is a cornerstone of joint Arab action, and the Arabs aspire to meet with it.”
In a statement to journalists after the arrival of Al Busaidi, Mikdad added “We used to meet in Muscat and now we receive in Damascus our brothers from the Sultanate with open hearts and open minds…Relations between our two brotherly countries have been continuous and have not been severed for many years, and I will not limit this to the beginning of the crisis in Syria.”
Mikdad indicated that the sisterly Sultanate has stood by Syria in its stance against terrorism and in working to form an Arab stance that would restore our nation’s strength and great sources of energies, to unify our stances and coordinate among them and to emphasize solidarity among our countries.
Al Busaidi, for his part, said “I am very happy to be here today in ancient Damascus… in sisterly Syria, which is a cornerstone of joint Arab action… We look forward to holding discussions and consultations with the brothers in Syria on our common issues and concerns that always aim at goodness, reunification, cooperation and solidarity between brothers.”
“I do not consider myself as a guest, but here in my country… We look forward to meeting with the brothers, exchanging views and discussing what we can work on within the framework of developing bilateral relations and cooperation between our two countries in all economic, commercial and scientific fields,” Minister Al Busaidi added.
In response to a question, Al-Busaidi said: “All the Arab brothers always look forward to meeting with Syria and the return of Arab cohesion to its normal status, therefore, all our endeavors, myself and others from the Arab brothers, are directed towards this field.”
