Head of Hezbollah Executive Council Sayyed Hashem Safieddine stressed on Sunday that the Resistance party won’t forget the oppressed martyrs who were ambushed by criminals last week in Khalde.
In a mourning ceremony of martyrs Ali Shebli and Mohammad Ayyoub in the southern town of Kawnin, Sayyed Safieddine said the criminals who killed Shebli, Ayyoub and two other martyrs will be punished.
“The issue of martyrs in Khalde won’t be abandoned and we will follow it up until the end when these criminals will be punished,” Sayyed Safieddine was quoted as saying on Sunday.
“We know how to restore our right. Since our Resistance is wise and courage, we managed to confront such enemies.”
Last week, three people were martyred, including Ayyoub, in Khalde, when the funeral procession of Ali Shebli was ambushed by criminals of Ghosn family. Shebli was shot dead a night earlier by Ahmad Zaher Ghosn who allegedly claimed that Shebli killed his brother (Hasan) a year earlier in August 2020.
Ahmad and Hasan Ghosn had been well known for taking part in the repeated attempts to block the international highway between Beirut and south Lebanon, under orders by extremist cleric Sheikh Omar Ghosn. Last year Omar Ghosn ordered an attack on Ali Shebli’s store in a bid to remove an Ashura banner near his home and store in Khalde.
Meanwhile, Sayyed Safieddine said the aim behind all forms of pressures on the Lebanese people is to force them to voice resentment over any form of Resistance.
However, Sayyed Safieddine stressed that such scenario won’t happen, saying: “We trust our people who offered all forms of sacrifices. Those people won’t subdue to enemies’ pressures and blockade.”
