Iran’s Judiciary chief Ebrahim Raeisi warned that the assassination of Iranian and Iraqi commanders, Lt. General Qassem Suleimani and Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis, will not remain unanswered.
He made the remarks on Monday night upon arrival at Baghdad International Airport.
Paying tribute to General Suleimani and Al-Muhandis as two heroes of the war on terrorism, the Iranian Judiciary chief said their assassins sought to disrupt the security of the Iranian and Iraqi people.
Talking to reporters, he lauded the resistance of the Iraqi people, army, popular forces against “foreigners, the agents of the Great Satan, and the Takfiri terrorists.”
Raeisi stressed that the bonds between Iran and Iraq are so strong that they won’t be broken by any sedition or plot.
He lashed out at the US for targeting the symbol of resistance in a crime that has violated all international regulations and the territorial integrity of Iraq.
The two commanders were martyred in a US drone strike near Baghdad International Airport on January 3, 2020.
