Caretaker Health Minister Hamad Hasan described the full lockdown in the country as successful, stressing the importance of having a “gradual reopening”.
In an interview with Al-Manar on Friday, Hasan said: “This lockdown is the second successful one following the one which took place last March.”
“The figures related to number of infections are promising,” he said, expecting that the number of infections will decline after two weeks.
However, he noted that protests and clashes which took place earlier this week may lead to rise in number of new cases.
Meanwhile, he stressed that the reopening of the country must be gradual, noting that the extension of the lockdown will be decided by the ministerial committed and not by the Ministry of Health.
In this context, he said that the ministry has been preparing a safe exit plan of the lockdown.
