Palestinians in Gaza are getting ready on Friday to take part in The Great March of Return protests at the border between the besieged enclave and the occupied territories.
The National Committee for “The Great Return March”, which organizes the border protests, called for mass rallies on Friday under the banner: “Marches Our Choice”.
Palestinians in Gaza have been demonstrating since 30 March 2018, as part of the Great Marches of Return, calling for an end to the crippling 11-year Israeli blockade of the small coastal enclave, as well as the implementation of the right of return for Palestinian refugees, who form an overwhelming majority of Gaza’s population.
More than 260 Palestinians in Gaza have been martyred and some 26,000 injured since the demonstrations began, mostly by Israeli fire during protests but also by air and tank strikes.
Earlier last Friday, organizers of the rallies decided to exceptionally postpone the protests after Gaza was subjected to Israeli aggression, with Zionist warplanes launched dozens of airstrikes on several areas across the besieged strip.
Gaza is braced for massive protests next Friday on the occasion of Land Day, which marks the first anniversary of the Great March of Return.
