The head of Anbar Operations Command, Major General Ismail al-Mahalawi, declared on Tuesday that Hit Island was fully liberated from ISIL Takfiri terrorists.
Talking to Iraqi AL-Sumaria News, al-Mahalawi said that Iraqi forces managed to fully liberate Hit Island, north of Hit city, 70 km west of Ramadi, from ISIL insurgents.
“The operation to liberate other areas in the iSland took place without any resistance by ISIL militants who fled,” the Iraqi general said.
The northern and western parts of Iraq have been plagued by gruesome violence ever since ISIL terrorists began a campaign of terror in the country in June 2014, when they overran Mosul and declared it their so-called headquarters in Iraq.
