Lebanese army on Tuesday made major advance in Ras Baalbek outskirts as it launched the third phase of anti-ISIL assault on the border with Syria.
In the fourth day of “Fajr Al-Juroud” Operation, aimed at cleansing Ras Baalbek and Qaa outskirts from Takfiri terrorists, regained control of Ras al-Kaff hill top in Ras Baalbek ourskirts from terrorist ISIL group.
The advance came after the army intensified shelling of ISIL positions, destroyed its fortifications and engaged in fierce clashes with the terrorists group.
The army said in a statement its units are working on combing the area and dismantling explosives and booby traps left behind by ISIL militants in Ras al-Kaff.
In an earlier statement, the army announced martyrdom of a soldier and the injury of four others while dismantling an explosive device in Arsal outskirts.
