Ibrahim Al-Amin, the CEO and editor-in-chief of “Al-Akhbar” Lebanese newspaper, recalled on Friday the leading role of senior Hezbollah commander Hajj Imad Mughniyeh in July War 2006.
In an interview with Al-Manar’s Imad Marmal on the sixteenth anniversary of the 33-day war, Al-Amin stressed that the divine victory in 2006 had the fingerprints of Hajj Imad.
“He set the war plan. Since 2000, he basically focused on building Hezbollah’s rocketry force. His plan in the war relied on two major forces: the first one was tasked with repelling the Israeli ground offensive and the second was the rocketry force, which was aimed at making deterrence in face of the Israeli air force.”
“He personally oversaw such preparations. Hajj Imad knew details of most of the rocket launchers, ammunition and tasks of commanders positioned in south Lebanon,” Al-Amin said.
He then, pointed to communication role played by the senior commander who was martyred in an Israeli attack on Damascus in 2008.
“During war, Hajj Imad was on direct contact with Hezbollah fighters, regional and central operations rooms and naturally with (Secretary General) Sayyed Hasan (Nasrallah).”
“Furthermore, Hajj Imad set and supervised the implementation of the evacuation plan. He also ensured safety of Hezbollah officials who remained in Beirut southern suburb (Dahiyeh).”
“Hajj Imad even followed up on the needs of the displaced people who fled Dahiyeh and southern towns and were stationed across Beirut’s schools and public institutions.”
