Chinese Foreign Ministry welcomed the ceasefire announced in Syria, calling on all armed groups to join the recent agreements in this regard between the government and the armed opposition factions.
“China welcomes the agreement between the Syrian government and the opposition and support all positive steps in this direction,” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Chun Hua Ling said Friday.
” We hope that the government and all armed groups would abide by the cease-fire terms, and that the other factions will join this agreement,” she added.
The truce regime came into effect Thursday midnight, joining the Syrian army and seven armed opposition groups with more than 60 thousand armed, under guarantees from Russia and Turkey.
