Under the pretext of democracy, the US continues to interfere in the states’ internal affairs and crucial decisions, from Latin America to Europe to the Middle East.
And now, through its embassy in Lebanon, it is targeting the Lebanese judiciary by commenting on the shooting incident of Qabr Shmoun in Mount Lebanon between rival local parties, which marks a clear violation of the Lebanese state sovereignty.
“Any attempt to use the tragic June 30 event in Qabr Shmoun to advance political objectives should be rejected,” the US embassy said in a statement issued on Wednesday, without clarifying by whom it should be rejected, and to which particular team the instructions are directed towards.
“The US has conveyed in clear terms to Lebanese authorities our expectation that they will handle this matter in a way that achieves justice without politically motivated inflammation of sectarian or communal tensions,” the statement added. Here, the embassy acknowledges that it had reached out to Lebanese officials, gave them the “necessary guidance”, and provided them with its view of “justice” and the path the “case” should take.
Needless to mention that the US embassy began its statement with an alleged support to a “fair and transparent” judicial process in the Aley incident, and that the case should be dealt with “without any political interference.”
