Iranian President Hasan Rouhani urged Muslim countries to exert efforts and cooperate in order to confront threats facing the Islamic Ummah (nation).
At the 13th Session of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC) Conference in Tehran, Rouhani summed up threats facing the Islamic Ummah as colonization by western powers and radicalization.
“Islamic world faces real threats through foreign powers’ attempts to dominate our countries,” Rouhani said.
“We should solve our problems through peaceful solutions. We support constructive interaction in the Islamic World with each other based on equal footage, in which there is no room for foreign interference and exploitation.”
Meanwhile, he stressed that No country can solve its domestic problems through dispatching troops to other regional countries.
Rouhani stressed that Islam is the religion of democracy and peace and not war. In this context, he called for “Islamic cooperation in a bid to eradicate radicalism in the Muslim world.”
The Iranian president urged representatives of Muslim people at legislative assemblies of Islamic countries to do their utmost to help their leaders and political authorities to boost the spirit of fraternity and development-oriented unity, IRNA news agency reported.
“While respecting the territorial integrity and political governance of all countries, the Islamic Republic of Iran believes that the solution to eliminate the problems of the Islamic Ummah is through the realization of empathy and cooperation among all Islamic countries,” he said.
“We do not consider any Islamic country as our rival, and believe that we can talk and cooperate even with the countries that we disagree with, based on mutual respect,” said Rouhani adding that the Islamic Republic of Iran defines its relationship with Islamic countries on the basis of Islamic virtues and affection.
