Syrian Defense Minister Fahd Jasem al-Freij received on Wednesday Iranian Chief of Staff Mohammad Bagheri and the accompanying delegation.
The Syrian minister stressed importance of cooperation between Damascus and Tehran against terrorism.
“We are pride of the strategic cooperation between Syria and Iran which achieved the greatest victories,” SANA news agency quoted Freij as saying.
“We will remain in the resistance axis hand in hand against terrorism,” Freij added.
He noted that Syria has been subjected to US-Zionist aggression in a bid to overthrow the Syrian state, but stressed that such aggression has been foiled “thanks to the wise leadership of President Bashar al-Assad, the steadfastness of Syrian people and army as well as the support of Iran and Russia.”
For his part, Major General Bagheri, hailed the victories achieved by the Syrian army and allies, saying that ISIL, Nusra Front and other terrorist organizations are mere tools to carry out the US-Zionist scheme.
The Iranian general reiterated Iran’s commitment to the unity and territorial integrity of Syria, stressing Tehran’s readiness to stand by Damascus during reconstruction.
