Syrian army forces and their allies have concluded their military operations in the eastern countryside of Homs, liberating 1,800 square kilometers (694.9 square miles) of territory.
A military source told SANA that army units concluded their military operations in the eastern countryside of Homs after eliminating the last gathering for ISIL in the area and liberating an area of 1,800 square kilometers.
The source said that the operations restored security and stability to tens of towns, villages, and farms, eliminated hundreds of terrorists and destroyed their weapons and equipment.
The Syrian army continues its offensive on the city of Mayadin, the major ISIL stronghold in the neighboring province of Deir Ezzor. The military has been engaged in fighting ISIL militants on the western outskirts of the city.
