Hezbollah Lawyers Assembly filed on Tuesday submitted a report to the to the Public Prosecution Office against a number of politicians, journalists and influencers for throwing false accusations against the Resistance Party in Sheikh Ahma Al-Rifais’s murder case.
The instigators included in the report are: former MP Khaled Al-Daher, Kinda Al-Khatib, Tony Bolous, and others.
The body of the Lebanese cleric was discovered on Saturday, a week after he went missing in Tripoli. Al-Rifai was a respected religious leader affiliated with Dar Al-Fatwa and served as the imam of a mosque in Al-Qarqaf, Akkar.
Member of the Assembly Rida Mortada told Al-Manar TV that the report concentrates on the offenses of stirring sedition, instigating infighting and spreading chaos, adding that the instigators relied on baseless facts to accuse Hezbollah of murdering the cleric.
In a statement, Hezbollah had lamented the unwarranted and baseless accusations leveled against it by political forces, politicians, clerics, media, journalists, and activists, without any evidence or justification. “These unjustified accusations, without any national responsibility or moral and human restraint, put the country’s unity, stability, and civil peace at risk.”
“Hezbollah acknowledges and lauds the Information Branch of the Internal Security Forces for its rapid and effective investigation in uncovering the crime to prevent further chaos and political manipulation,” the statement read.
