Admitting that Hezbollah threats posed a decisive factor that forced the Israeli regime to reach an agreement with Lebanon on the maritime dispute is no more a political or security assessment behind the scenes.
Israeli leaks confirm that the official institutions in the Zionist entity acknowledged the Lebanese resistance movement’s role in settling the matter, Lebanese daily Al-Akhbar reported on Tuesday.
The paper’s Ali Haidar cited a confidential document released by the Israeli army and the military intelligence that was handed over to the occupation government’s Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara.
The document was delivered to Baharav-Miara and was like a recommendation that “there is a political and security need to reach with Lebanon soon and without delay in order to avoid a probable security escalation with Lebanon,” Haidar reported.
In this context, the Lebanese journalist, who is an expert in Israeli affairs, noted that the document matches “assessments made by Israeli National Security Council and Foreign Ministry, as reported by Israeli Channel 12.”
“The matched assessments indicate that the Zionist entity realizes threats which endanger the so-called Israeli national security in case a deal with Lebanon is not reached.”
“They also indicate that the Israeli enemy presumes the fact that if the maritime talks fail, Hezbollah will target Karish, prompting Israel to retaliate, something which will lead to a major military confrontation,” Haidar added.
This official stance reveals that the Israeli military admits its incapability to deter Hezbollah or to foil any attempt by the Lebanese resistance movement to target gas installations in the Mediterranean, according to Al-Akhbar article.
Legal Course
On the other hand, the Lebanese journalist pointed to the legal course of the agreement in the Zionist entity, revealing that the assessment by the Israeli security and military institutions outweighs the approval of the deal by Tel Aviv.
“On the legal level, assessment by Israeli security and military institutions will foil attempts to hinder the approval of the agreement, despite all legal challenges announced by the opposers of the deal.”
Stances by the Israeli army along with security and political sides confirm that the debate in the Zionist entity today is not only subject to electoral considerations in the Zionist entity, but also to those related to an equation imposed by Hezbollah, Al-Akhbar’s Haidar concluded.
