Iran’s Foreign Minister Hussein Amirabdollahian on Friday said that a lot of effort had been made by the 13th government to lift the sanctions on Iran, adding that the talks are close to the end if the Americans are realistic.
Amirabdollahian on his visit to Zanzibar held a meeting on Friday with President Hussein Mwinyi.
In the meeting, Amirabdollahian pointed out the various capacities of Iran in medicine, agriculture, medical education, fisheries, and energy, adding that Iran has advanced technology and even one Iranian company is building a 3000-megawatt power plant in southern Iraq, the first phase of which has been completed.
He said that in the field of engineering services, one of the oldest Iranian engineering companies is in Zanzibar today, and said that in the field of gas and oil extraction, Iran holds first place in the world and is ready to cooperate.
Thanking President Ebrahim Raisi for his invitation to visit Iran through a message delivered by the Iranian foreign minister, President Mwinyi said in the meeting that trade with Iran and investment is a topic that interests them, adding that they had capacities in marine and fisheries industries.
Referring to his visit to Iran during his tenure as the minister of defense, the president of Zanzibar, said that he was aware that Iran’s defense industry was very advanced.
Amirabdollahian’s first visit to African countries as a foreign minister began on Monday, August 22. He first visited Mali and Tanzania; he then left Tanzania for Zanzibar late Thursday night.
