Upon winding up the non-binding parliamentary consultations at the House of Parliament, Prime Minister-designate, Najib Mikati, said that he had had the opportunity to listen to the opinions of MPs, “which serve the country’s best interests, albeit from different angles.”
“At the end of the day, national interests will overcome everything; we will form a government that can carry out its duties and complete what our previous government has started, especially with the International Monetary Fund, the electricity plan, and the maritime border demarcation,” Mikati added.
Mikati had met on Monday and Tuesday with all the parliamentary blocs and individual deputies in order to overlook their opinions regarding the cabinet formation in the context of the non-binding consultations.
