Iranian vessels rescued 17 sailors of a Panamanian oil tanker which was hit by fire in the Persian Gulf, an official at the Ports and Maritime Organization of Iran announced.
“Golden Tree tanker, which is owned by China and sails under the Panamanian flag, caught fire and immediately sent a message for help when it was 30 miles south of the Iranian Dayyer Port,” Nader Pasandideh said.
He pointed out that as soon as the message was received, the Iranian search and rescue units and fire extinguishing vessels were sent to the scene.
“A sum of 17 sailors from different nationalities were rescued, adding that the fire had been completely extinguished,” Pasandideh added.
The vessel Golden Tree is a Chemical/Oil Products Tanker built in 2002 and is currently sailing under the flag of Panama.
