Lebanese Military units advanced into the heavily targeted zone to recover the remains of a soldier killed in an earlier Israeli attack, amid ongoing Israeli aerial activity and continued attacks in nearby towns.
“The Lebanese Army did not wait for approval from the Mechanism Committee, but rather defied Israeli threats and the field risks, entering the targeted area to retrieve the soldier’s body, while enemy aircraft continued to fly overhead,” Al-Manar correspondent reported.
He added that the military units managed to retrieve the body of the fallen soldier, despite continued Israeli drone activity over the area.
After the body was retrieved, it was confirmed that the soldier was a member of the Lebanese Army who was martyred as a result of recent strikes targeting the route linking Qaraoun, Mashghara, and Suhmor.
Israeli airstrikes hit roads adjacent to the Qaraoun Dam in Lebanon's Bekaa Valley, sending debris into the reservoir but causing no structural damage to the dam itself.
