Leader Ayatollah Khamenei: Iran’s Conditions to End War Must Be Met

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Sayyed Mojtaba Khamenei.

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Sayyed Mojtaba Khamenei has placed a premium on the need to fulfil Iran’s conditions for ending the war and the state of “neither war nor peace,” while underscoring the importance of managing the Strait of Hormuz, strengthening national unity and deepening ties with neighboring countries.

He made the remarks during a meeting with Major General Mohsen Rezaei, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC), according to a statement from the Leader’s office on Tuesday.

Ayatollah Khamenei described the SNSC and its secretariat as a “crossroads of policymaking,” emphasizing the interconnectedness of culture, politics, the economy and security. He said effective decision-making requires a comprehensive roadmap that accounts for the impact of each policy across these areas, from its inception to its conclusion.

The discussions also focused on strengthening national cohesion, building mutual trust between the public and officials, and using the capacities of the Constitution, particularly Article 176, to help the president and executive bodies address the country’s challenges more efficiently.

Continued Management of Hormuz

On security and foreign policy, the Leader highlighted the importance of managing the Strait of Hormuz to safeguard national and regional security and consolidating relations with neighboring countries on the basis of lasting mutual interests. He also described the enemy’s desperation as a result of Iran’s national resistance.

Ayatollah Sayyed Khamenei stressed the need for timely and proactive public communication to sustain popular participation in defending the country and its political system. He further called for pursuing the rights and interests of the Iranian people and the Resistance Front by securing the conditions announced by Iranian officials for ending the war and the “neither war nor peace” situation.

During the meeting, Rezaei briefed the Leader on developments across various sectors and efforts to address the country’s challenges. He also outlined initiatives by the SNSC secretariat to advance Iran’s strategy of establishing regional arrangements and a regional order rooted in the region itself.

The meeting with Rezaei comes a day after a four-way meeting in Tehran brought together senior officials from Iran, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan to discuss regional security and cooperation.

Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman, Pakistan’s Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir and Turkish intelligence chief Ibrahim Kalin met with Iranian officials at Tehran’s Saadabad Palace on Monday.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Rezaei said regional cooperation should have begun long ago, arguing that the visit demonstrated the limited influence of US threats over countries around the world.
