Iran’s Rezaei: US Inability to Provide Regional Security Evident, West Asia’s Security Regionally Driven

Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Secretary Major General Mohsen Rezaei said Washington has failed to bring security to any country in the region, stressing that West Asia’s security must be ensured by regional countries without foreign interference.

“America has not brought security to any country in the region, and Washington’s inability to provide security guarantees has become evident,” Rezaei said in a post on his X account, in Arabic.

He stressed, meanwhile, that regional security must originate from within West Asia and that foreign interference must be prevented.

His remarks came a day after a four-way meeting in Tehran brought together senior officials from Iran, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan to discuss regional security and cooperation.

Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman, Pakistan’s Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir and Turkish intelligence chief Ibrahim Kalin met with Iranian officials at Tehran’s Saadabad Palace on Monday.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Rezaei said regional cooperation should have begun long ago, arguing that the visit demonstrated the limited influence of US threats over countries around the world.

“The Iranian people’s resistance and the capabilities of the country’s armed forces had helped create a new, positive atmosphere in the region,” the senior Iranian official stated.

“The results of the Iranian people’s resistance are becoming increasingly clear,” Rezaei said, adding that the four countries shared the view that regional problems could be resolved through cooperation.

He reiterated that West Asian security should be regionally driven, with regional countries taking responsibility for their own security rather than relying on outside powers.
