Speaker Berri: “Framework Agreement” Has Fallen, ‘Israel’ Can Occupy More Lebanese Territories Whenever It Decides That

The Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, Mr. Nabih Berri, said in an interview with Al-Joumhouria newspaper: “I am not optimistic, and the biggest proof of my lack of optimism is the killing and the fallen martyrs—including children—as well as the acts of bulldozing and demolition. The moves the authority is making are worthless; unfortunately, there are no solutions.”

He added: “The situation is dangerous, and solutions are all far off. The ‘framework agreement’ is gone, and if the Israeli wants to occupy, he can do so.”

Speaker Berri was asked: “Are you satisfied with the government’s performance?” He responded: “You will see accountability.”

Regarding the government’s policy, the Speaker of Parliament said: “The state needs money, but it shouldn’t take money from those who need money.”

He added: “The army, at this stage where Israel is escalating and expanding the scope of its aggression, is the foundational pillar—indeed, the essential bridge—for building Lebanon.”

He continued: “The relationship with the President of the Republic is ‘active’ even if we disagree. We disagree on several issues, but that does not prevent our friendship.”
