A number of Lebanese officials announced they were donating their salaries for the month of March as part of contribution to efforts aimed at combating coronavirus.
Information Minister Manal Abdel-Samad and Minister for the Displaced Ghada Shreim announced they were donating their salaries.
“I announce that I will donate my salary for the month of March to the National Fund to Combat Coronavirus in support of governmental hospitals in the face of the coronavirus epidemic,” Abdel Samad said on her Twitter account late Sunday.
“I invite every able Lebanese, resident and expatriate to help because with our solidarity we succeed,” Shreim tweeted.
MP Michel Daher donated 100 million Lebanese pounds, while former MP Amal Abou Zeid donated 50 million Lebanese pounds to Jezzine Governmental Hospital.
Health Minister Hasan, MP Chamel Roukoz and Development and Liberation bloc MP Fadi Alameh had on Sunday announced that they will donate their salaries and compensations to hospitals as a contribution to the anti-coronavirus fight.
Also on Sunday, Minister Hasan announced Sunday night the launch of the fund and his salary donation to it.
“After my inspection of the bitter reality of government hospitals that are preparing to face the pandemic, we launched the National Fund to Combat Coronavirus,” Hasan tweeted.
