Speaker of the House, Nabih Berri, on Thursday welcomed Prime Minister-designate, Dr. Hassan Diab, in presence of Caretaker Minister of Finance, Ali Hassan Khalil.

In the wake of the meeting, Khalil said that the meeting between Speaker Berri and the designated PM was highly positive.

“The meeting was a continuation of ongoing communications, and the surrounding climate has secured an agreement to form a government of specialists who widely represent the different segments of the Lebanese society,” Khalil added.

“I think that we have made huge progress today, based on which we can say that we are on the threshold of forming a new government,” Khalil said, adding that the most important thing is that it is a government of 18 specialist ministers, as proposed by the PM-designate.
