Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov voiced concern on the events taking place in Arab countries including Lebanon and Iraq.
As he received Arab ambassadors in Moscow on Monday, Lavrov said stressed that Russia considers the popular protests taking place in several countries local affairs, Al-Manar correspondent in Mosco Ahmad Haj Ali said.
In the two-hour meeting, the top Russian diplomat said such protests were calling for rightful demands, but voiced concern that foreign powers could exploit these movement, especially Washington.
Lavrov stressed that Russia stands by the people of Lebanon, but noted that Moscow doesn’t want to take stance similar to that of Washington.
In this context, Lavrov called fora speed up the formation of a new government that “includes all the Lebanese powers in a bid to manage to reduce tensions which Moscow fears would grow into violence that don’t serve the interest of any party,” according to our correspondent.
