Lebanese Health Minister Jamil Jabaq warned on Tuesday that roads cut off across Lebanon are badly affecting the health sector in the country.
In a press conference in the capital Beirut, Jabaq said essential medicines and vaccines are running out in more than 50 first aid centers across Lebanon.
He said that roads cut off are in some cases turning out to be violent, noting that several vehicles carrying medical supplies were subjected to attacks by some bandits.
“Doctors say bandits are blocking some roads and won’t let them pass unless they pay money in return,” Japaq told reporters.
He added that some medicines are still held at the customs because no cash is available due to banks closure.
“2000 cancer patients can’t reach the ministry center in Karantina to take their medicines due to roads cut off,” the minister said.
