Iranian Revolutionary Guards Commander Hossein Salami declared on Wednesday that the Lebanese resistance movement of Hezbollah “has acquired capabilities in Syria that allow it to wipe the Zionist regime off the map” on its own.
“The Lebanese Hezbollah has now developed such an extent of power through the experience of confrontation against proxy wars that it is now able to wipe the Zionist regime off the map in any possible war by itself,” Gen. Salami said at a ceremony in the northern city of Urumiyeh.
The Iranian commander also addressed the escalating tensions with the United States over the latets developments in Strait of Hormuz.
“They [the US and its allies] intended to undermine Iran’s regional influence, but everyone witnessed how this policy backfired to increase Iran’s influence and a united front was formed against the Zionist regime,” he added.
“The Iranian people forgot about talking to the United States and removed it from his thought,” Gen. Salami was quoted as having said in reference to suggestions in recent weeks of possible talks between the nations following international calls to reduce tensions.
Salami went so far as to say that “negotiating with the US is not the way to resolve [matters],” arguing that simply having talks with the US will only increase the pressure and demands on the Islamic Republic “to make us surrender.”
