The Lebanese Displaced Minister, Saleh Al-Gharib, met on Monday morning with Syrian Local Administration and Environment Minister, Engineer Hussein Makhlouf, the Lebanese Democratic Party said in a statement.
“The Syrian government has taken all the necessary measures and preparations that have exceeded our expectations to welcome refugees back,“ Gharib said.
He pointed out that “the Syrian Minister of Local Administration and Environment has shown more cooperation to resolve this file,” stressing his readiness “to work with all the concerned sides to secure the return of refugees in a way that best ensures the interest of the Lebanese state.”
In turn, the Syrian Minister said that all the work being done was an implementation of the directives of President Bashar al-Assad, “who has renewed calls on every Syrian to return to his/her homeland.”
“We need all the energy of our sons in the rebuilding and reconstruction process,” he added.
He finally quoted the Syrian President who said “those who do not encourage the return of Syrians are those who supported terrorism and caused the emigration of the people of Syria right from the start.”
