Iran executed on Saturday eight members of ISIL terrorist group involved in the 2017 twin attacks in the Iranian capital, Tehran.
The death penalty for the eight terrorists carried out according to legal and religious principles because of their involvement in attacks on the Mausoleum of the late Imam Khomeini and the Iranian Majlis (parliament) on June 7, 2017, a report by Tehran Public Prosecutor’s Office said.
Those executed are believed to have collaborated directly with key elements who killed and injured innocent civilians during the terrorist operations, it said.
They also provided arms and financial support to terrorists with the knowledge of their aim and intent, it added.
The court found convicts, arrested immediately after the 2017 terrorist attacks through widespread judicial and intelligent actions, to be accomplices to the terrorist attacks. The terrorists were declared canonically outlawed punishable by death charging with arms and ammunition smuggling as well.
Those executed named as Soleiman Mozafari, Esmail Sufi, Rahman Behrouz, Majed Mortezai, Sirous Azizi, Ayoub Esmaili, Khosro Ramezani and Osman Behrouz.
The attacks on Iran Majilis and the shrine left 17 civilians dead and 43 others wounded.
