Lebanese Army Chief, General Joseph Aoun Tuesday called on soldiers to stand fully ready at the southern border to face the threats of the Israeli enemy.
“I call upon you for full readiness at the southern border to face the threats of the Israeli enemy and its violations, and what it is indicating in aggressive intentions toward Lebanon, its people and its army,” Lebanese Army’s Twitter account quoted General Aoun as saying.
“The exceptional political situation that Lebanon is going through requires you to exercise the highest levels of awareness and vigilance,” the army chief was quoted as saying.
The statement comes a day after President Michel Aoun told Arab League Chief, Ahmed Aboul Gheit that Israeli threats against Lebanon still exist, stressing that it is Lebanon’s right to resist foil Israeli schemes by all available means.
