Scrutinizing the resignations submitted by Lebanon’s prime ministers Najib Miqati in 2013 and Saad Hariri in 2017 leads the observers to follow the relation between such moves and the Lebanese oil excavation project.
Directly after Hariri’s resignation, Lebanon’s foreign minister wondered, via Twitter, whether it is a coincidence that the premier resigned few days before the date the government had set to sign the contracts which entitle private companies to start excavating the seashore oil along the Lebanese coast.
In an article published by the British newspaper The Independent, Robert Fisk drew a direct relation between the Lebanese’s oil project whose estimated profits are more than $600 billion and the political pressure on Lebanon exerted by Saudis who may well want a share.
So, will Lebanon be able to set off into its economic prosperity away from the Saudi adventures?
