Israeli occupation forces detained 18 Palestinians during overnight raids between Sunday and Monday in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, according to official Palestinian Authority (PA) Wafa news agency.
Wafa cited a statement from the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS) saying that seven “youths” were detained from the Al-Quds (Jerusalem) area, five from the central West Bank Ramallah-area village of Kobar, and six from the northern West Bank Tulkarem district.
An Israeli army spokesperson told Ma’an that a total of 16 Palestinians were detained overnight, and did not offer details on the locations where the detentions were carried out.
Israeli raids in Palestinian towns, villages, and refugee camps are a daily occurrence in the West Bank and East Al-Quds (Jerusalem), with a biweekly average of 85 search and detention raids carried out thus far in 2017, according to UN documentation.
